"I joined MPI as part of my MA Conference and Events Management course at the University of Westminster in October 2007. I had been working in events for two years prior to this my home country of Portugal. At this point I had some practical experience but little theoretical knowledge of the industry. I had no idea what MPI really did or how large it was. During the first few months of my course we had several sight visits and were fortunate to attend several MPI events at some of London's leading venues including West One De Vere, the O2 and the Grosvenor House hotel. The following year we participated in more networking sessions as well as several educational sessions including one organised specifically for us at the University focusing on improving interviewing techniques. All of these events helped us feel more and more a part of the UK Conference and Events industry.
